Why I built BE-EDGE
I started my career in a system that disappeared.
In the 1990s in Minsk, I wrote my first PhD on a question that has followed me ever since: how do young people make the significant choices that shape their lives? I was asking it while the world around us was being rewritten. The jobs, institutions and career paths my generation had been trained for were disappearing.
I learned to build my own path instead. I helped launch the first Executive MBA in Belarus. Then I started again in the United States, earned tenure in Alaska, and completed a second PhD, in strategy, at Lancaster University in the UK.
Along the way I noticed something: we teach people to build strategies for companies, but never for themselves. So I built one. Since 2013, more than 900 students and career changers have used the BE-EDGE method to make their case to over 240 organizations in 23 countries.
